You know one thing I've noticed since switching from Canon to Epson is that the piezo print head seems to run cleaner. By cleaner I mean it doesn't seem to deposit ink around the inside of the printer. I think the "boiling" that the thermal print heads produces an ink vapor. This most noticeably deposits on the sensor strip and on my Canon required a cleaning every few seasons not to mention a general inky deposit seemed to form all over the inside of the printer including working its way onto the rollers. This was after going through about a quart of ink total in the Canon. I've since gone through about half a quart of total ink on my Epson and no such deposits have formed.
