Could the cropped/resized image be made to behave like a thumbnail? Then clicking the image could open it full size in a new tab. I think the photos deserve it, if this is possible.

It's definitely on our to do list, but I worry we may need to completely rewrite the system to do that. I'll play around with it a bit and return and report!
@Nifty

Hi Rob, could you not link the current POW and all other future POW’s to a separate archive thread for the members to view next/later.

Ugh, that better not happen... but if for some reason it does, we'll just start pulling images from the depths of the forum. :)

Does the xenforo forum system not support resizing of [ IMG] with bbcodes such as [ IMG=50x50] (minus the spaces obviously). Allowing for a page of clickable thumbnails?

As for clicking a smaller version image to view the original large image that appears to be supported..... But convoluted, you need a smaller version of the image and the original large version to do it but the result is.

Like this......

:)

The URL bit is the large image the IMG bit displayed on the forum is the small bit.. Or as code...
Code:
[URL='http://www.bbcode.org/images/lubeck.jpg'][IMG]http://www.bbcode.org/images/lubeck_small.jpg[/IMG][/URL]

Beautiful picture, CakeHole!!!!!!
OH NOOOOO its not my picture in any way, or a entry to the competition its just an example on how Nifty can have clickable pictures to take you to the unaltered/Larger original for whoever wins in future. I repeat to be 110% clear that is not my image all resources and info for the workaround is from this page http://www.bbcode.org/examples/?id=10

I appreciate your not taking credit for someone else's picture! Nonetheless, thanks for posting this beautiful photo.

Yup, that's definitely an option! I'm also thinking of a few ways to automate it so there's a full archive of them that people can click through.

Unfortunately, the POW code is completely independent of the xenforo software and can't use the same parser / image coding as the forum.

Ah right if its just regular html code you may be able to use a height and width = command in < > to resize the image for the main page yet when people click on it it will load the original larger version. Either way good luck POW is a nice idea :)

Ya, that's what I've done in the past and might do again. The only downside is that it's "inefficient" to have an image resized at the browser and burns unnecessary bandwidth... oh and Google gets all frowny about it too. ;)

Could you not use HREF in conjunction with a small version of the image on the actual POW section of the webpage.

Something like...
Code:
<A HREF="http://www.pichostingservicehere.com/bigpic.jpg"><IMG SRC="smallpic.jpg" ALT="Home"></A>

I think something like that would be possible. Again would need 2 versions of the image the "bigpic.jpg" though could be hosted off site on an image storage service like imageshack and would only load when people clicked on it, while the "small.pic.jpg" would be hosted/reside on this site.

Been a while since ive had to do any HTML so may need experimenting/tweaking.

I made this picture of some woman I found on the Internet. Contains 'blur', though.

It shows the dark, enigmatic beauty of the plastic printer case, contrasted against the clearly moving, wonderful highlights of the printer carriage.
