Picture Of The Week (POW) Information and Submissions

Jumping spiders are so cute. I imagine the aphid has a different opinion.

It isn't a great stack. It was handheld and the subjects were moving around. Don't look closely and it is fine and no one else is posting anything:)

Make way for the photo royalty! @Epatcola, your brilliant shot has been crowned this week’s POW and is ruling our homepage!

I visited a deer park a couple of weeks ago.

While chatting with a lady there I was told the stags are getting aggressive this time of year and really smelly because they pee on themselves to attract the ladies. I said hmmm... maybe I should try that.

Looks like that trip to the deer park came with a few interesting facts!
Thanks for the laugh, @Epatcola! Your winning POW is now featured on the homepage!

The point about submissions drying up is fair, though the fallback of pulling older images from the forum seems reasonable if it comes to that. On the thumbnail question, having a cropped preview that opens the full-size version in a new tab would genuinely improve the experience, so it's good to hear it's on the list. The dot matrix angle made me laugh, but I'd still rather see actual print setups and workbenches than wait on a sound competition. Even a quick phone shot of a messy den would beat an empty queue.

Isn't he cute? Newborn cicada. Well technically, newly emerged. Within an hour he will literally fill with big black bug's blood.

The thumbnail idea sounds worth the rewrite if it gets people clicking through to the full image. On the dot matrix angle, a sound of the week contest would probably get more entries than photos, honestly. I'd rather see real workshop and print setups than polished shots, since that's what makes the homepage feel like it belongs to the forum. Even a messy bench or a half-stripped printer tells you more than a staged photo would. Hopefully a few more people post before it turns into photo of the month.
