Printer Model
Epson Stylus NX420
All the documentation I've found clearly states that the Stylus NX420 can print in black while color cartridges are empty, but I can't get it to work. Running Mac OSX 6. I open Preferences, click the Printer & Fax Tab, choose the Epson, then check the box "Permit temporary black printing." Then, I go to print the document again. In the printer dialog box, I use the pulldown menu to find the "Print Settings" page. There, I check the box for "Grayscale." When I try to print, it gives me the same old "Need to replace cartridges." I can find no other setting anywhere that addresses the black-only option. I've restarted everything multiple times, cancelled unsuccessful projects, etc etc. On the printer itself, I tried pressing the “Setup” button, but, of course, that is “Unavailable,” apparently because a cartridge is empty. Can someone please help? Thanks in advance for your sage wisdom.
