As I've mentioned in thread http://nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1546, I had ordered a new printhead from inkcessories.com (shipping included, it's much cheaper than getting it from the official Canon distributor in Greece). The package arrived yesterday and after another failed attempt to fix my old printhead, I replaced it with the new one.

Observation 1: A new printhead is like a new printer. Printheads, even if all nozzles check out, do wear over time. I'm comparing new and old prints and, while all nozzles checked out in both cases, the difference is striking in favor of the new ones. "Like a laser printer" makes perfect sense again. The difference is more obvious in plain paper documents than photos.

Observation 2: See thread http://nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=953. Indeed the MP750 and maybe some other Canon printers do exhibit a defect when printing certain borderless photos. Considering that all nozzles on my printhead print without any irregularities, the fact that this photo came out with light banding on the left side (the end from the point of printing) can only be interpreted as a mechanical defect.

For any heavy user, buying a backup printhead is a good move.
