I mentioned more than six months ago that I had run a test print on both Prodinks and IS. Pigment inks just to see how they would stand up to long term exposure and abuse.

They were exposes to direct daylight, condensation, steam, cold and heat which are not the normal conditions that an everyday print would be expected to reside in.

They were both printed on the same 4 colour iX7000 Office Printer on the same day.
The glossy photo paper used was the cheap Lidl Sihl 280 gm paper.

This was not a test against each other, but only against the everyday elements crammed into six months to see how durable the ink could be.

I am not going to judge either of them on their durability or performance but I just wanted to let the results speak for themselves, would OEM inks have fared out any better or worse, well I don’t rightly know or care because I couldn’t be bothered to use OEM inks.

The bottom two were kept in a drawer for the duration.

Your test shows pretty good performance indeed and supports the general assumption that pigment inks are without risk of fading from environmental factors - UV - humidity - ozone - temperature.

The Hat's test shows there is alteration of colors.

Good results, I wonder how would OCP compare.

@stratman they were stored around the front of my work shed where the washing machine and drier are kept, and they tend to exhale all sorts of gases that even Hades might be nicer.

Yes there is some colour loss but nothing to really talk about..:clap

1. What did you do for Mrs. The Hat to send you to the woodshed?

2. That's not what the machines say on the origins of the gases. I do not judge.

There are noticeable color shifts but would most people not notice unless there were an original for comparison? I think not at the six month period.

Thank you for testing!
Good results regarding fading for both, the IS seems to match colors better, at least the greys are looking more like grey..

PS: as pigment inks are known for less fading, I am much more curious to see how dye compatibles are performing... dear Hat, if you are printing also with 3rd party DYE (e.g. IS and prodinks or others) put some of them in your work and washing hades..

@martin0reg I just might do another test same as the last one with I.S. dye inks only, because I don’t stock any other brand of dye ink..[/QUOTE]
Including OEM would be nice..but possibly expensive.
Without any other (maybe cheap) dye ink it would be difficult to compare or judge the results. Anyway a one-ink-test is better than no test at all...
