InkMon works by intercepting the spool file that is created by an application used to print TO a printer. This requires interaction of the Windows Operating System. As such, InkMon will NOT tabulate ink usage when you use the standalone copy function of a multifunction since if this does not require your computer to perform the function. Same goes if you print photos or print out faxes directly from the printer without going through the Operating System of the computer.

The best I can offer is that the occasional copying will not impact ink usage much. Also, if your copying is relatively consistent from cartridge refill to refill then your InkMon settings will reflect that usage inherently.

Some suggestions are as follows. One important point is to set InkMon's "Warning Level %" high enough to prevent running out of ink and damaging your printhead. The worst thing that will happen then is that you will be refilling more often.

One caveat... if you drastically change your printing habits, such as print a lot of photos with one or more predominant color as compared to previous printing habits, then you could risk running out of ink before the Warning Level % kicks in. If you set your Warning Level % higher and/or keep a manual watch over the cartridges if your printing habits change drastically then you should stay out of trouble.

If your printing remains relatively constant, then a Warning Level % of 20% (or less if you have reliable consistent MB/ml data) may do the job nicely. Set it higher (30%+) if you're unsure or changing printing patterns dramatically.

That's what I've done. Your experience may be quite different so follow your data to figure out what works best for you.
