mikling, however HP does offer some models (even at low prices) with large ink tanks while Canon seems to be replacing their entire product line with the new models.

Of course Canon printers are much better (they don't misfeed and they don't bother with their noise) but the problem is Canon no longer innovates anything in the field. Shrinking cartridges and smartchips are no innovation.

It would be a service to printer users everywhere if some reviews on Amazon made it clear that even if you stick to OEM cartridges, these new printers require constant replacement of cartridges and subsequent cleaning cycles.

I must be really old-fashioned and naive. I can just see boards of directors everywhere - let's use Canon as an example- sitting around trying to find ways to increase profitability.

First, they come up with the plan to use chipped cartridges, solely to make refilling more difficult. Then they come up with a plan to make the cartridges smaller, and while we're at it, let's build in to the printer frequent cleaning cycles so that the small cartridges will empty quickly.

Where has decency and morality gone? Has everything taken a back seat to greed? They are laughing all the way to the bank, while continuing to gloat about consumer ignorance.

This industry, and others like it, is going to the dogs. It's enough to make this old guy fed up!!
