Hello to all. I am a nubbie. I’ve been searching around the internet and found this forum. I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I apologize for my printer industry ignorance ahead of time.

I’m look for a printer for my church. We’re looking for a printer that can print 2k-4k pages of card stock paper (I think that’s what it’s called. Thicker than regular paper, similar thickness to a wedding invitation or a postcard) per month. We would be printing mostly black and white images but there will be times where color will be included. We don’t need anything to fancy or that’s going to cost an arm and leg, But something that can do the job without having to call a technician out every couple of weeks. Thanks in advance your you help. Any information would be appreciated.

@Fred Dean, The best thing you can do is to visit stores that stock printers and take along some of the cart stock you want to print on, and test out the carts on as many printers as you can that, and that will give you a good idea as to which one might suite your needs.

A Maxify just might work for you, but that all depend on how heavy your card stock needs to be, good luck with your quest...

Are you planning to print these 2k - 4K in batches, once a month - or week - or more frequently - about every day ?
Do you need a high printing speed - instant print - because somebody is waiting for the print out ? How are you handling this printing volume currently - laser or Inkjet printer ? Depending on the thickness/stiffness of the card stock you may consider a printer feeding the paper from the top/back and not from the bottom like lots of office type printers do.

Thanks for your reply. it would be in batches, maybe a couple times a week. totally about 2k-4k per month. this new printerwould dedicated to just printing those 2k-4k pages. I believe they are using a injet printer at the moment.

Canon Maxify MB5xxx and iB4120 and the Canon MegaTank G4010 can all handle paper weights:

The Canon Maxify MB5xxx series also do Automatic Duplex, though I do not know how well or if if can do the largest card stock in duplex mode. If Auto Duplex is important then test out with the card stock you want to use on a display model in a brick and mortar store.

Maybe a true color laser printer might work well for you, though I do not know which printer would fit.

I cannot advise on what will be best for your significant output per month (2K-4K / month), but any of these models have a month duty cycle (maximum number of prints per month) that are alleged to handle your numbers with plenty to spare.

Again, test printers out at a store before buying if you can.
