I shoot motocross photography, I print at the track with a Canon I9900.. I print about 200-350 prints on a saturday night and during the week around 20-40 or so.. I read here about a month ago about G&G ins from Inkgrabber.. I was going through so much OEM Canon ink that I just had to find an alternitive some how.. I read Neils test with a couple different NON OEM inks.. At the end G&G came out on top and closest in color to the Canon OEM stuff.

I have not been on this site for about 3-4 weeks..I came on it and found something that Neil said that G&G inks are unusable?

So my question with you experienced people that have used a NON OEM ink WHAT IS THE BEST INK out there for subsitute of OEM canon BCI inks?
I am about to order INK this week in bulk and would really like to know what you have had good luck with.

Thank you in advance.

To Hoss,

First, you had a previous post where you said you were using C&C ink--and had a overall reddish cast---now I assume you meant to say G&G ink---which many on these forums use and is a known good ink for Canon printers.

But G&G vends its ink in two basic forms---as a raw ink in which the user refills their own cartridges and in the form of prefilled non-oem cartridges that one can just pop into a printer. The post Neil Slade made regarded that latter form---but when you buy a third party prefilled cartridge its almost always 100% non-OEM--and the vendor puts their ink into a brand new non-OEM
cartridge----and the problem Neil was posting about was not regarding the ink itself---but some how G&G got ahold of a large number of these empty non-OEM cartridges that had a manufactering defect where the ink outlet hole was off center.--and far enough off where the cartridges failed to fuction properly--which is now corrected from what we hear--but maybe you got a hold of a few of them.--and had problems.---but the problem had nothing to do with the ink itself.

But in terms of non-oem bulk inks that work well for Canons---G&G is one----also consider MIS, Formulalabs, and Hobbicolors---all known safe inks that are reputed to very close to Canon OEM color balance.--to say the list is restricted to just four discriminates against other decent inks---but those are concenus favorites.

But thats just my take--others may have other comments--but if you want the best advice---you might post the country you are in--because that can determine some of your available supplier choices---and if you prefer to refill yourself---or want to use third party prefilled cartridges--which for many is easier.

But at your printing volume---your cost savings potential is huge.

If you want to buy in bulk..here is an excellent idea. I have used ink from Image Specialists - who apparently make excellent inks for many 3rd party companies. I use these in my i9900 with great success. You can get many free 100 ml samples from them....for any printer.
