With all the drama concerning the yellow CLI 42 carts, I've come to a conclusion. The best way to solve the problem is to simply throw out the CLI 42 cart that comes with a new printer and use a thoroughly flushed and dried CLI 8 cart from the very first time you fire up your new printer. This, of course, is if you intend to refill your carts in the first place. All you have to do is remove the chip from the original cart and place it on the CLI 8 cart. It removes all of the worry and drama of switching over to non OEM yellow ink.

This has been recommended by octoinkjet or PC inks for quite some time now.
