They are same size, and as they only will be used as chip holders during reset both cartridge families will work equally well.

The 525/526 cartridges would work just as well so there is no reason not to use one of them, the CLI-8’s are that much easier to handle because of the larger size !

Edit :- @PeterBJ you just piped me..

I tried with an OEM 526BK as temporary chip holder to glide in the resetter, but the effect on the PGI-7BK is 0.
This means the cartridge with a blinking LED continues to do so, the one I disabled the ink warning does not blink (and shows gray on the displays).
Not a big deal.

Someone needs a 520/521 Redsetter ?

When you go to reset the chip you need to hold the cartridge in just long enough to get the LED light to show and that is sufficient to reset this chip, of all the chips I have found that one to be the hardest to reset..

I do not see any LED light when resetting.
Resetter is brand new.

If you don’t get an LED light the first time then keep trying till you do, also you could try it in another resetter and then back to the correct one, if all else fails then a new PGI-5 chip will be needed..
