Looking for a decent ink at a reasonable price for HP8610 (HP950, 951 Carts)

I plan on purchasing a set of refillable cartridges on Ebay however I don't know if I can count on getting the right ink as a lot of the ink suppliers seem to sell universal inks, same ink different price depending on printer manufacturer. Super high quality results is not a priority. My understanding is that this printer uses pigment based inks, is it possible to use dye based inks without ruining the print heads? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Because I can buy 4 pints (BK,M,C,Y) of dye ink for $30

Our usually recommended suppliers apparently don't handle those inks. I did see this: http://www.amazon.com/JetSir-Pigmen...TF8&qid=1440345574&sr=8-23&keywords=HP950+ink . It looks like the same brand as this: http://www.amazon.com/Generic-Color...TF8&qid=1440345574&sr=8-19&keywords=HP950+ink , except that it's pigment ink. I don't know anything about either one.

I'm surprised they are using pigment ink. I don't think dye ink would hurt your printer. (Going the other way -- pigment in an HP dye printer -- would probably ruin the print head, however.) The only thing I would worry about is whether the replacement ink would cause flocculation (clumping) of the old ink in the cartridges and head. You might do a little test (mix a drop of new and old, or maybe flush head and cartridges with Pharmacist's solution.

You might consider rebuilt cartridges. They are very cheap for this printer.

I have HP932/933 cartridges refillable cartridges colors not success in my printer there is leaks, just black color succeeded, I prefer you can refill OEM best than get refillable cartridges.

If you live in the USA. The Instant ink is a great option, since you can print as many high quality pictures you want. If you want to go massive page count (like 200+ page duty cycle per month) and NOT photo. You can refill it 2-3 times at Costco. I have not done this method yet. I heard they will even add a new chip. But you need to bring in an OEM ink. Last time I checked it was about $11 per color. Good part is, if you are unhappy with it. You can return it.

Yes HP 951/950 use pigment. You can high lite and documents can get wet. I would not recommend refilling it with dye. Since the print head was not designed for it. Just my two cent.
