Looking for a Brother laser printer that handles occasional color documents - which model fits?

I run a small home office in Little Rock and have been using an old monochrome laser for years. Most of my printing is text, but I am now getting occasional requests for color pages, maybe 10-20 a month, and I am tired of sending those out. I want to stay with Brother since my current one has been reliable, but I am not sure whether to get a color laser or keep a mono machine and add something else. My main concerns are toner cost when color is rarely used and whether the cheaper color models handle thicker paper for the occasional card or label. I also do not have a lot of desk space, so a smaller footprint matters. I have been reading up on different models online but the options are a bit overwhelming. If you have a Brother color laser in a mostly-text workflow, how has the toner situation worked out for you? Any models you would avoid?
