Just received my first Epson P700 printer that needs servicing. Are they similar to the P600 or P800?

I just received my first Epson P700 printer. I've serviced a good handful of P600's thanks to JToolman's P600 disassembly video. I noticed the P700 is very different looking from the P600 and P800 respectively. I've looked on YouTube but haven't found anything close to as helpful as the P600 videos I've watched. Has anyone worked with this printer before? I'm hoping it's like the P600 printer. One of the videos I watched showed the manual for it that relates the P700 to the P900. This should be interesting. Either way, I will post my results after I finish tinkering.

Can you tell me what the black ink switch is? I haven't found any useful documentation on the P700 other than unboxing and setup. With this being their new printing system, I'm a bit nervous to be the first one to try opening it up. I'm sure I'm not the first. But there's no documentation anywhere yet.

Both the R3000/P600 older generation and the 38003880 generation of printers all used a matte black and a photo black ink but the printhead only has one nozzle row for black - there is an ink switch on top of the printhead which switches between these 2 inks in line with the driver setting, and this ink switch was causing problems after a while.

The newest printer generation - P700 and P900 - both now have dedicated nozzle rows for both black inks and don't have this ink switch anymore.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain that to me. I had no idea they were using a switch to differentiate black inks before. After doing a few nozzle check prints and seeing the P700 printer in action, I have to say that it's the nicest looking printer I've ever worked with. It looks like Epson thought of everything when making it. Right down to hiding the Ethernet and USB inputs with a cover.

I'm going to do a little more research before I start unscrewing everything.

Just an update. I've reached out to some local people who operate P700's but haven't heard back. They may even be part of this forum. I'm waiting to get into JToolman's fb group to hopefully see if I can find someone who's familiar opening the P700's up. Right now it's just sitting in it's box.

It's such a gorgeously designed printer. I would love to be able to restore it for home use.

Why don't you just try to get a service manual which would tell you how to open the printer - and much more.

I found no free downloads of the service manual. but here you can buy one at 10$ and a parts catalog is 1$.

I just ordered the service manual. I tried a couple tricks before deciding to open the printer up. I have a couple panels off right now. I'm going to look through the manual and post my results once I get things settled. I'll share the service manual with anyone who asks by DM.
