Is this chip resetter interchangeable?

Hi,
I have Canon MG5350 which uses CLI-526 cartridges.
I'm refilling it with OCP ink and am using the chip resetter
to reset the chips.(I can't post link to which chip resetter I'm using coz I'm a new user)

Well now my friend got IP4300 printer that uses CLI-8 cartridges and
I was wondering, can I borrow him this resetter to reset his cartridge?

What if it's not compatible; can it damage the chip or damage itself?
Did someone tried it already?

The chip resetter for the 525/526 is not compatible with the CLI-8 cartridges
so a different resetter is required for each set of cartridges.

It wont damage the chips or the chip resetter trying your theory out but it simply wont work, so forget it.
