Hello there!

Although i'm new in the forums i've been through hell with a printer which was not capable of having a CISS, resulting in a lot of time lost and anger.

I was checking for a reliable A3 Epson printer and in my local store the only model which comes with a CISS is the Epson Stylus 1430W. I was wondering if anyone here could tell me if it's reliable or not.

Thanks in advance for any sort of answers.

Typically, Epson printers are more accepting of CISS systems than Canon printers, such as this:

that said, "your milage may vary" with reliability...I've been running an Epson Artisan 700 on a CISS successfully, but that style of printer has stationary carts with built-in supply tubes between the carts and the print head, so installation is a real snap. I do get frequent "cart unrecognized" alarms, which seem to imply the cart has been measured as empty, so I just reset the chips with a pushbutton and continue.

Perhaps someone here is running a 1430 with a CISS?.

and look at this thread...

Another option I use is a set of refillable/resettable carts in an Epson Workforce 1100...

I am using refillable cartridges for my Epson 1500W (EU version of the Artisan 1430) with T079x refillable cartridges. You can use a ciss, but I recommend to put the tubing system inside the printer along the carriage. I have seen a youtube video which shows the tubing neatly placed inside the printer with no jamming:

Note: pigment ink ciss must use the so-called straw sucking ink system from above, not ink from beneath the bottom of ink tank.
