For anyone looking for a non-chipped Canon printer that uses bci-c carts, I
noticed in a J&R ad in today's New York Times the Canon Pixma ip6000D (six
color photo printer) for $79.99. It didn't say they were refurbished so I
think they may be new and on final closeout. I've read that it is slower
than the i960 that it replaced and has fewer jets, but the carts are
refillable and there are lots of inexpensive aftermarket prefilled carts
available as well. If I didn't have a functioning i960 and ip5000 as well as
a spare new ip5000 still in the factory sealed box I would go for one
myself. For anyone trying to follow up on this post I hope the ad is for real!
www.JR.com I went onto the site and they show it in stock with $20 ground shipping. just put ip6000D in the search box at the top of the site.

Please note - this is not spam. I did post the same info on the printer newsgroup (which I also participate in) in case anyone there wanted to try to buy one as well.

Dang.. just bought a head for my i960.. I know not a apple to apple replacement but these bc-6 cart printers are getting scarce. Only ones I've seen besides this was a ip5000 for like $250 :( which I consider gouging to say the least. Canon had it list price for $79.99..........The wonders of the free market economy.......

I was actually coming to post this same info! And, I just ordered one so we'll see if it takes. I already have an i9900, but I got this for my wife so she can print when she wants and because it can use the same refillable Hobbicolors ink that I do. Heck, the Canon carts alone are work $60-70!
