IP-4300 Fine Black Line on Nozzle Check

On a Canon ip 4300, there is a fine black line visible on the yellow nozzle check - it doesn't show on a scan, so I won't post it.
I replaced the photo carts then the pigment cart from a known good ip 4500 to no avail.
If I select either a clean of the colour carts or the pigment cart, the problem clears, but returns soon after.
Cleaning the head didn't help.
I fear the worst - but welcome suggestions.
Are the heads on the two printers identical?

Pretty strange indeed

You should post a scan trying to enhance it via software (photoshop or gimp)or doing an hi-res scan. Without it is difficult to help. The defect should show

The two heads are different but they use the same cartridges

I agree with Sherden. You could use the highest available resolution on your scanner and to avoid uploading a huge file crop the scan to include only enough of the yellow test stripe to show the defect.

If the print is OK immediately after cleaning the print head, but the problem returns after some time, I think the problem is caused by cross contamination.

By the way, which carts are you using? OEM? OEM or after market refilled?

Could it be that there is a leak somewhere?

Is the fine line always in the same position?

The line is always at the top of the yellow.
Here's an untouched scan.
The carts are refilled OEM.
I switched the carts with another printer;the problem stays with the original printer.
I would expect a leak to affect all of the colours, not just the yellow.

To me it looks like cross-contamination inside the printhead.
Yellow affected by cyan is typical.

I wonder if scan of magenta strip will show something like this? Sometimes it is hard to spot with naked eye.
