I have a canon mp500. The yellow cartridge does not monitor the ink level. How do I turn it back on?

I've had a similar problem, tried to remove all the cartridges and put them back several times and had no more problems - but don't know if actually that corrected the problem.

If you've refilled the cartridge or accepted the 3 warning regarding your warranty if you continue using the cartridge past it's "empty" state then you can only get the ink level back if you purchase a new OEM cartridge or get your chip reset (apparently it's now possible but that's 3rd hand info).

Isn't there a way to enter service menu and do a firmware reset?
