I have epson stylus C66 & 480SXU printers

I have epson stylus C66 & 480SXU printers
I'd like to know if I can run just black ink cartridge only in these printers with the color cartridges empty.
Also how can I clean print heads, can't find cleaner cartridge for epson stylus C66 and need help to replace pads.
I am using SSC software to reset counter etc.

If your Epson printers are like the CX4600 that I had a chance to play with, they will not print anything unless they have all their cartridges installed with none of them "out of ink" as far as the chips are concerned.

Don't you have an empty cartridge lying around that you could put back into your printer to confirm this?
