Printer turns on, does a self test. Print a test sheet, printer makes all kinds of snapping sounds. Paper feeds around back and through area under print heads and gets jammed. Paper rips and error light comes on. Print carriage is free to move either direction.

Found the problem. Remove four screws in recesses, lift off top carefully. Look to the left where the cartridges park. Two rubber bumpers fell off two plastic posts. They were causing the paper feed mechanism to jam when feeding a sheet of paper.
