HP pro x476dw. Should i go for it?

Hello guys,
I'm in need of a good color MFP for heavy office use. We are talking around 100 color copies (from adf or glass) and 200 prints per day. I was thinking about some laser mfp's like oki MC562 or Lexmark CX310dn and then i stumbled upon x476dw. It's faster than the laser models (guinness record fastest desktop) , has less cost per page (or equal), uses a unique new inkjet system, and has all the features i need (and more).

Should i go for it? Can it manage a demanding day to day print production? Is it a relliable model with no problems or other issues? I know that with a laser mfp i'll need new fuser after 20000-30000 copies but other than that , most of them are workhorses. What is the deal with χ476? Any extra costs i should know about?
The relliability is my main concern here. I don't have time to waste, dealing with stupid problems that it might have.I want a machine that works like a Swiss clock!

Is it a safe bet, or should i go with a laser?

If you have a better model in mind, around 450-500€ (about 600 US dollars) feel free to suggest it, as long as it is imported in Europe.

This printer is based on the Memjet technology with a stationary print head the same width as the paper. This makes the printer very fast. I know nothing about the quality and reliability of this printer, so I cannot give any advise. Druckerchannel.de has a test here or a Google translation to English here.

Thanks. I 've read most of the reviews on the internet and now i'm searching for owners opinions.

Any suggestions for another model of any brand that will meet my criteria? I don't care if it's laser or inkjet technology, as long as it meets my needs and has a low cost per page.

What about printhead life and warranty?
Printhead isn't mentioned as consumables, but it is separate from cartridges.
I'm afraid there is no compatibles. And what when HP rises price for cartridges?

You may consider leasing copier from local supplier.
As a rule, purpose-built copiers have low cost per page with OEM toner.

That's why i ask about reliability. It is already in the market for over a year. Someone sould know by now.
As for the cartridges and the rise of prices from HP, i don't worry much. Already i've seen CISS systems, or refilled cartridges, and ways of refilling them at home.

I own myself a copier (Ricoh MP2000, excellent workhorse) but i need a color one, and the numbers i need printed don't justify the purchase of a colored copier.

Leasing a copier here for office use (3000-5000 prints/copies per month) is out of the question. I've inquired 3 locals for lease and they want the weight of the copiers in gold (used copiers, not even new). Suffice to say that here 90% of the people in need of a small copier (for small monthly duty cycles) prefer to buy one second hand, than to lease. In my case (for which i've done the math) 2-3 months of a small copier lease, buys me a top notch MFP, that does pretty much the same job with the same duty cycle. If my needs increase to double or triple the numbers of copies, i'll consider the purchase (not lease, even then) of a more proffesional copier.

I'm trying to estimate target life for HP Pro x476dw.

It seems to be around 100k-200k (24 * 4k = 96k; 4k is max recommended every month load).

Max occasionally monthly load is 50k, so max printer life is again something around 100-200k.

1-2 years of use in your office.

It is not a Swiss clock - that is for sure.
Maybe money saved on running first unit allow to buy another?
I mean two same printers in order to match target monthly load and gain necessary reliability.

Hmm...that is an option i guess. Though 100-200K isn't much, i think that with the proper maintenance there won't be a problem. Now that you mention it, i think i saw a brochure that offers a signifficant discount if you buy 2 or more items of the same printer, and x476 is among the models offered.

Overall, do you think i'll be better off with x476, or should i go for a laser model?

x476 should be OK when running on only OEM cartridges and as long as covered by HP warranty.

If you are going to use non-OEM consumables or 3-rd party repair, better look for laser.

I'm going to use only non-OEM on the mfp i'm going to buy. Inkjet or Laser, i'm not using OEM. Tomorrow i 'll go and see the oki MC series up close. Cheaper and with led technology sound like a good deal. I have to make a desicion this week...

I have an OKI Colour A3+ Laser printer and never had a single problem with it, and I printer thousands of sheets a week on it.

I had all inks and service repairs free of charge; I got it under contract and I only paid a click charge of 10 cent for every print, it worked out far cheaper than owning it outright..
