Newbie to Printing

I have Hp all in one 6100 series inkjet printer/fax/scanner/copier and I had only problems.
1. I used my printer with MAC wit OS 10.3 operating system. Initially it was fine. Scanner did not work very good. Now it does not print and shows that pritner failed to print. I have both OS 9 and OS 10 operating systems installed on my MAC. When I clicked on printer icon then OS 9 operating system start to boot up. I never installed drivers in OS 9. I intalled many times hp6100 drivers in OS 10 system and does not work. What can I do now?
2. I am tring to use now this hp 6100 with a PC. I got a error message that scanner failed. What does that mean?
3. While I am using this printer with a PC I got another message saying black is not recognized. This orginal black ink and I have tried to clean the head but no luck. Any suggestions about what can I do?
