Hi
I got the print carriage jam...remove blockage and press OK message. No jam was visible. I remover the paper tray and found some paper specs in a roller. That seemed to fix it. It has happened again and I cannot find any blockage but I also cannot open the case. HP can make them a real puzzle sometimes. Before I pry the case off so that I can see the carriage track has anyone run into this error? What did ti take to fix it?

Hi
I can answer my own question and I hope someone else can use the info.
The lid must be removed. It is simple and obvious, then the electronics in the lid are removed from it. Again a puzzle but it comes off eventually. The wiring strap is pulled loose from the back of the electronics strip.
The case is dismantled by inserting a screwdriver in the 6 slots at the ends and prying slightly to partially release the ends. First the trip and then the end plates need to be rotated and cajoled like a rubics cube but will come off.
4 screws hold the inner cover on. More twisting and turning is required to get it off. Pull off the ribbon connector. You now have access. If you reconnect the ribbon wire and poke a Q tip in the safety interlock on the front of the inner panell you can run it like that.
The problem was that the belt that moves the head had come off of the idler wheel. This happened because the wheel was badly worn. This had caused the belt to become slightly worn and wrinkled. Parts are no longer available after an entire 5 years.
Something will need to be made to fit. This is a fine machine and well worth the trouble.
