HP C6280 just started giving MULTIPLE errors, in succession: paper or carriage jam; pump motor stalled; ink system failure. I've had ink system failure messages a few times in the past on my C6280. It's had light use. Most were caused by power outages or low / defective cartridges. I fixed the Ink System Failure before, following instructions on this or forums. Once or twice, only had to replace a cart to fix that error. Now, it has several errors. Either paper or carriage jam errors; pump motor stalled; ink system failure.

It started w/ paper jam error. May also report "carriage jam" instead. There wasn't one. I checked it WELL; front & back w/ a flashlight. No paper bits visible anywhere. Often, that error goes away, by opening / closing lid & hitting OK.

Then another error pops. If get rid of jam errors, often get "pump motor stalled" or Ink System Failure. During these errors, it printed (once) a crisp, 2 pg. self test diagnostic - press OK + Help. Then when tried printing a doc, some error popped up.

Did a power reset. Comes back on - might give a carriage jam error (or another). Or may go thru printing preparation, finish & have normal display - until try to print.
Checked the carriage very well. Used a thin film of light machine oil on the rail. Moves freely by hand & printer moves it freely during "preparation." Held lid switch down & watched carriage as it did "preparation." Carriage moved easily - no unusual noise.

Again, among multiple errors, it DID print a perfect "extended self test diagnostic" - ONCE. Not sure what it should look like. Looked fine - mostly empty boxes, some SHARP text & color boxes.
Gave Ink System Failure error few times. Got past that by clearing codes & doing power resets. NOW - if was really "Ink System Failure," wouldn't print a perfect self test diagnostic.
I question many of the errors, given it printed perfect self test - except the infrequent screech; that's real.

RECENTLY (SOMETIMES) just before printing ATTEMPTS to start, hear a loud, medium pitch SCREECH (possibly gears?) followed by a carriage or paper jam error. That symptom is new. Made that sound a few times BEFORE the recent self test diagnostic printed (& after), so obviously the screech isn't constant problem.

There's no paper or a carriage jam, unless paper bit's hidden from inspection - EVERYWHERE - front & back w/ flashlight, several times for 10 minutes. Read solutions here & elsewhere for individual errors - not for several - one after another. I imagine all the errors are related (some not accurate). I've done several "resets," that had different steps. Cleared hardware fault codes. May've worked in past for ink system failure - not now for all these errors. Suggestions where to go from here?
