I used to free up my cartridge carriage on my 1430 by using the buttons in a certain way. I didn't need to pull the power cord. Now I've forgotten how I did that. Can someone help me recall that technique?

To free up the carridge for which purpose ?
You might have an option in the driver to move the carriage into the cartridge exchange position at any time or a button command for it - that should be documented in the user manual. But this does not 'free' the carriage such that you can move it around unless you pull the power cord in that position.

Thanks for your reply, Ink Stained. I appreciated it!

I want to move the carriage back and forth to facilitate head cleaning. Pulling the plug is awkward with my setup. The plug outlet is behind and below my table.

Regards,
Paul

O.k., I understand , my proposal won't work in that case - you may rather use an extension cable with a switch

My carriage is stuck on an old Pro 100. I am trying to get the printhead out to see if it is still good but I am unable to move the carriage manually or otherwise. The light flashes orange 15 times which indicates missing or damaged ink cartridge but I'm just trying to move the carrier to get the printhead. Any ideas?
