horizontal lines

Hi just joined this group and wonder if anyone can tell me if I can cure the problem of horizontal lines, but it is only in colours blue and green.
I have a Canon Pixma ip4000, have had it from new for about 4 years, use it quite a lot, not to do a lot of photo printing, just the normal use,
but I was trying to print a calendar I have made, which includes photos and graphics and it was then I noticed the 'lines'

I then did, in Word, made 4 squares and filled each with different colour, green,blue,red,yellow, it was when that was printed I noticed only green and blue had lines,

I have done all the necessary maintenance a lot of times, still the same,
just wondered if it was 'age'.

At that old you probably have some clogs. It may be time to remove the print head and do a manual cleaning.

I would need a idiots guide and a lot of courage to do that,
am willing to have a go if I knew what I was doing.

Qwertydude may be right, it may be time to manually clean the head but I would recommend you try some other things first. Please go to this link and follow these steps:
