@GoneFishin are you saying that your .jpg when exported to say a file in " Pictures " has a colour cast that was not there in DEVELOP module of LR?

@3dogs Not really a colour cast per se and after a little more investigation, I can actually see exactly what's happening, but no idea why - for general info this is a RAW image that I'm editing in the develop module and then exporting in a .jpg format in the manor you mention.

When I open L/R with the image in question last worked on and still in the develop window, just for a brief second while everything's loading that initial image displayed, is the exact version that the exported .jpg resembles; of course a fraction of a second later, L/R finishes loading, all the sliders move to where you put them and the image changes to what ever you have edited it to.

Some settings are definitely being applied because the image in question was intially very under exposed, almost a complete blackout in fact, so the basic settings at least are being used.

@martin0reg - A very good solution to get OEM quality at a cheaper price than the consumer size carts. I had a quick look at the price for the BCI-1411 and was glad I was sitting down at the time. Can see the savings are there to be made though, but would think you need to be using a fair amount of ink and/or likely also looking to sell or display some of your prints to get the full benefit of the initial outlay involved but it's good to have found a system that's working well for you. :)

Have to agree, original new canon ink tanks are not cheap, and not cheap enough for me too.
But there are resellers offering expired carts for around half the price (depending on the date). So I got my BCI-1411 for ca. 50€ a piece. Expiring ("install before") dates are from 2013 to 2014..

Epson, Canon, HP... A "few"
Interested to note a switch on some of OctoinkJet ink suppliers:

I've not really made any hay about the changes on the forum as it was really not appropriate given the rules about commercial posting. Besides I figured someone would notice if they felt it was important...

... although 18+ months was maybe a little longer than expected ;)

Is there more information on the relative merits, with regard to specific printers?
Short version, most of the changes were down to the following factors:
  • Quality of results, etc...
  • Customer feedback and/or encouragement to stock
  • Manufacturer willingness to work on a product for specific printer model(s)
  • Decentralisation of supply (all eggs, 1 basket, etc..)
  • Changes in supplier/manufacturer ownership
The reason I highlighted the customer feedback side of things is that to a large extent we've been customer led for many aspects of what we supply particularly when it comes to inks. In that respect we were led by the results, reliability, consistency, etc... rather than traditional business practice. I sometimes wonder if folk have forgotten that bit about how I started but hey... :)

If you look through all the products it soon becomes apparent. Octoink actually started selling ink other than Image Specialist many months back
  • KMP blacks since 2010
  • Prodinks from 2011/12
  • OCP (can't remember)
  • Inktec from 2014

KMP ink in black PGI5BK (pigment) for my Canon MP610 as an example has been phased out, it used to come in 100ml bottle rather than the current Image Specialist ink 125ml bottles.
Erm, the volume has really been sort of hit and miss. We switched to 125ml as the bottle could handle it but out understanding of customer need was that forcing them to take 125ml of the dye inks would just increase the price.

Interesting theory but no, we just kinda standardised it for all Canon pigment inks... Not sure why we didn't for Epson pigments...

Either way all those brands mentioned are typically good quality
Which is basically why we went with them.

Anyway, enough of the corporate message... Just wanted to resolve some of the more interesting ideas into something a little more factual... Back to your fishing was it? :D
