I'm looking to the forum for help with an Epson P5000 printer that I am trying to recover. Bought as a cheap "project", it sat idle for 2+ years and had multiple clogged nozzles. Multiple cleanings cleared up all the nozzles except for yellow. When I removed the printhead to directly flush it, I discovered that there were two springs underneath the print head. It was easy to figure out where the first spring went, as it helps maintain the horizontal position of the printhead. The second spring has been puzzled. It is a light spring, 25 mm x 10mm, with no obvious function. See photo below. The Epson P5000 service manual has been no help and it doesn't show up on the exploded parts view in the service manual.
Any suggestions as to where it goes and what its function is? I'm otherwise ready to put the printer back together but assume that no good will come of reassembling it without this spring.
Thanks in advance.
