Found this pictorial while browsing for a different thing on this site. It's cool to be able to visualize how the ink flows its twisty path from the port to the head, and to learn that the clog was in the cartridge holder.

excellent link. There is information on this forum by Grandad35 on the subject of taking a printhead apart and clearing a clog. I followed his instructions to clear a clog in one of my printheads but thought I could eliminate the step of grinding down the plastic nibs that hold the electrical contact portion at the other end of the ribbon wiring. MISTAKE! In unscrewing and removing the nozzle plate I stressed the ribbon sufficiently that I damaged the wiring and rendered the unclogged printhead useless. On some of the printheads you may get by without this step, but the i960 ribbon isn't long enough to have any slack when removing the nozzle plate.
