good canon printer longevity story. i purchased 2 refurbished MX700s back in 2010 for $59 each, introduced in 2007, so now 18 years old. in 2019 i set one up as my main printer, have been using it for past 6 years. yesterday the scanner unit belt broke so it would not pass startup tests.

the MX700s uses PGI5, CLI8s, easy to refill. had close to 200 refills on the original ink carts and print head over the past 6 years of use.

i put in my backup MX700 in its place, moved over the print head and ink carts was back printing in about 15 min. had to reinstall the 18 year old driver on my WIN10 machines, using compatibility mode for WIN7.

the refill train marches on, now up to 2,188 ink cart refills over 18 years

So you spent just $118 fifteen years ago on 2 printers and never purchased OEM carts again?. A truly nightmare for Canon business. I bet that if a majority of customers did like you, Canon soon would give up selling printers.. ;)

Ata a boy Jimbo, it’s nice to see someone getting one over on Canon.. :hugs
If there was a printer award academy, you’d get the golden cartridge statue for sure..:thumbsup
