Generic Pixma MG7700 Cartridge error

Hi,

Just purchased what i thought are compatible MG7700 cartridges, seems i am now getting the error message "appropriate ink tank not installed. install appropriate ink tank", is there anyway to disable this message or override?

Hi Jim, no unfortunately you can’t, the compatible cartridges your looking for are 771/770 and not the 551/550 type, Canon changed the chip numbers awhile back and some of the compatible ink suppliers were obviously caught out, sorry..

Thanks, yes I have been researching and this appears to be the case, looks like very expensive next purchase but they are quite good printers.
