Both are wireless printers connected with excellent wifi connectivity according to the front panel LCD. I can print to either, but both won't scan with the message "Communication Error" check if a computer is connected"

I tried the unplug/replug on the 610 and no difference.

What do I need to do to resume scanning? It scanned fine until a few days ago.

Probably a wild guess, but have you tried reinstalling the scanner driver?

Mac or PC?

On my mac, when this happens I need to kill then restart the application using the scanner.

I'm PC. So the scanner function has a different driver from the printer? I'll check and see if there is a scanner driver and reinstall if there is. There are several scanner apps that are installed and I've looked at them all. One is "Epson scan settings" and it returns the 2 images attached. Another is simply called "Epson Scan" and it also delivers the error message that it can't communicate with the scanner.

As mentioned in my first post. The scanner is wireless and prints fine wirelessly, so the problem is not with the wifi signal.

Perform a network check from the printer panel. If OK, then reboot/reset the router and see what happens. Do you turn off the printers?
My sympathies.
