So it's been a hwile since I've bought a non-wide-format printer. I had someone who wanted to just be able to stick a camera card in a printer and print so I casually skimmed Staples for whatever the current equivalent to the R340 is.

Apparently none of the small format printers/all-in-ones have 6 color ink anymore? How well does that work printing photos, especially if I wanted to switch it to pigment? I guess I haven't been paying attention lately...

Any suggestion on what older model to keep an eye out for instead? It looks like the last 6-color was the Artisan 50? I actually have an R340 still but it hasn't been used for at least 6 years.

I'm pretty sure all the Artisan's are 6 color - 710, 725, 810, 835, 837 etc. - but they are all discontinued. I have had four or five 710's and have gotten a tremendous amount of use from them all with the Piano Book CISS. I'm actually considering buying one more even though I just purchased a Canon Pro-100. I love the 710.

There is a reason why 6 color printers are less popular now. The smaller ink droplets of the modern printers generate the same effect as the 'diluted' ink.
