Epson 1430 "What ink system is best"?

Im new to the forum, and have just bought an Epson 1430.
It would be great if the members could put me on the right path.

The 1430 did sound so good when I spent several days reading up, and found I could get CISS tanks for it, with all the savings.
I have a large project where I want to print tons of art.

I should have spent 2 months reading all the talk from bad/good reviews, and methods out there. Im now burned out, still dont know what to buy short of the 130.00 round of Claria inks.

My question: Is there a way to run this printer on good quality inks that are at least close to the standard of Epson Claria ink?

The three things Im looking for would be like any Artist would want (Color thats close enough to Claria; no need to be perfect, UV resistant, and cost).

Tall order, because every company on the web has a hate group aimed at em.what to do????

Since Claria inks are dye inks rather than pigment, you will probably not achieve maximum longevity otherwise available with pigment inks. BUT I AM NOT SAYING TO FEED PIGMENT INKS INTO THE 1430!!

Color accuracy will always be a potential issue using aftermarket inks. Some artists DEMAND color accuracy.

Your only real issue is to deal with a reliable ink vendor, ones that we have dealt with here. such as Image Specialist inks by Precision Colors. I don't beleive they offer a CIS, but they do have refillable carts with a chip resetter, that has the potential to extend the life of the waste ink pads.

The cart and dye ink seems to be my preference too. The seller on eBay has a massive amount of good ratings, so I'm thinking this will be where I'll get them.

I'll post here again about my experience after the new ink has cranked out some work.

The above condenses some information about the differences. As time goes along the battle of the programmers between Epson and aftermarket ensues. Unfortunately when there is a transition or software change by Epson some hiccups always occur as Epson meant that to happen.

Thanks a million for the link. I got a little lost on the "v6.0/v6.12" thing though. I think they are saying you are better off if you can use the v6.0 chip.

Seems my new 1430 could require the v6.12? So I sent them email to find out the case.

Just remember that no dye ink, whether aftermarket or Epson, is going to be as lightfast as pigments. But using good dye inks and good paper will result in good quality photos. Cheap dyes off some random seller may or may not fade faster.

I have had good results with Precision Colors inks, but so far I've only bought the pigments which excellent results. When I need more dye, I will be buying theirs.
