I was wondering if any one has any idea about which printer has the lowest cost of maintenance? My need would be 30 to 40 photo prints a month. Which printer would be the most cost effective?

Canon OEM (original) cartridges have been the easiest to refill. Good aftermarket ink is readily available online, the carts are easy to refill, and the printers have replacable printheads. be sure to get one with separate color ink cartridges and not a tri-color cartridge printer. Unfortunately, all the manufacturers try to make refilling more difficult. Canon has done this by making their new carts from black plastic, so you can't see the level of ink as you refill. Someone on this forum might be able to tell you which units are still on the market with clear plastic carts for easier refilling.

Do your homework, read up on this stuff on the forum, and ask as many questions as you need to get started.

Actually the easiest cartridge to refill is the PGI-9 but it is not mainstream. For the Canon Pro 9500 printers. You just drip ink back in where it normally comes out and it fills back up! Nothing more! Crazy! and this is for Canon's most expensive desktop photoprinter.
