Dismantling Canon PIXMA ip4500

When I print a page my Canon PIXMA ip4500 draws in only one side of the paper (from either the cassette or the rear tray). This results in a paper jam or, at best, a ripped sheet of paper. I suspect that the printer has rollers on both sides of the machine and one is not working. I would like to take the printer apart to check the rollers, however I have not been able to find a service manual on the net (the user and quick start manuals are readily available).

Can anyone post a link?

The same thing happened to my wife's ip5000 printer. a push-pin had dropped into the top feed area that skewed the paper. I don't think this would happen to paper feeding from the cassette, but you might check it out.

Took apart one of my ip4500s because one of the purge unit pads came out of it's holder and dropped into the waste pad area. Got it apart, got the pad and reassembled the unit. Go slowly and it should work out for you.
