cyan empty.. can i print black alone

hi.. i m using Brother DCP 115 C printer. my cyan catridge is empty and it ll take time for me to refill it.. i tried to take black n white printouts. but my printer displays' Cyan empty' message and doesnt print anything. should i hav cyan catridge even to take black n white printouts ?? (i ve about 90%ink in black catridge and around 30-50 % inks in other 2 catridges as well) help me please
