Click Bait Messages Via Private Messaging

We have received some reports for inappropriate sex chat with links.

I have informed @Nifty to update your spam filters. Please do not open the links as they may be dangerous for your PC.

If you did receive any messages please use the report button. We can start the Spam process and update the filters accordingly.

Thanks everyone for the reports! We've removed a bunch of spammers and tweaked our spam-blocking settings.

Fortunately our systems stop most spammers (and there are literally hundreds of attempts each day), but keep in mind it's impossible to block spammers 100% of the time without also blocking legit users.

It's a constant battle and balance every website has between blocking spammers, but allowing legit users to access the site. Human spammers are getting more and more trained at how to pretend to be good users, so it's sometimes impossible to differentiate whos good/bad until they start posting. Even then, sometimes we'll see really patient and determined spammers that signup, act normal for a bit, then start a spamming spree.

So, the best solution: We'll keep tweaking the automated systems and also keeping a look-out for reports of potential spammers!

Please click the "Report" link on the PM since we can't access anybody's private messages. That will help us see the details to improve our filters, and also quickly get rid of them.

That helped in 3 ways:

1. More data to apply to slowing them down in the future
2. Banned that person and removed all their spam
3. Lead to finding another user that was a spammer

How do you remove these vile messages from our message folder?

Hi.

Click on the checkmark next to the message. A popup menu will appear on the bottom of the screen. Select Leave Conversation and click on the Go button next to it.

Then select Ignore Future Messages to not get any more messages from the specific user.

How do you remove these vile messages from our message folder?

When we get a report, we have a button that allows us to basically obliterate their accounts. It's a "SPAM" button that removes the user, their posts, their Private Messages, etc.
