Chip technologies - some disturbing developments?

...There is also something else afoot in those chipped cartridges... check out some announcements by HP concerning the capability of those chips that they haven't implemented yet. BTW Canon provides the HP engines for the lasers so Watch Out.

... in a Canon iP4200 related thread I did some digging on google and came up with a few "interesting" articles and snippets that indicate that the world of printer chips could get a whole lot more complex.

All seem to be somewhat pie in the sky and may even head into paranoia-ville but given the lengths Canon recently went into with their chips you have to wonder if paranoia shouldn't be the norm..



I'd be interested to see where the future may be taking us though.. Anyone got any other nuggets to share that might be making some print tech manufacturer drool..
