Canon Pro-100 won't power on

I haven't experienced any previous problems with the printer, it's always worked great even after it (unexpectedly) sat in storage for a year with the printhead and carts in place. Since then I've been using it and it's been just fine. So I tried to turn it on the other day and it did nothing... no light, no sounds. I did the obvious stuff: checked the wall outlet then swapped out the power cord; I even checked the voltage coming out of the power cord. I swapped out the power unit inside the printer. No luck. So I started looking online for suggestions and found all sorts of suggestions about things to do with the power and resume buttons, and I've tried them all with no luck. But I also saw a couple mentions of the printhead being the possible culprit, so I've decided to try changing that but of course it won't move because it's locked up inside the printer where I can't access it. And so far I haven't been able to get the right side panel off so I could unlock the printhead, but I did find a post just a few minutes ago with a couple photos that may help me do that. So I'm going to try that, but in the meantime, does anyone have any other suggestions about why the printer won't power on?

Canon printheads can fail suddenly without any warning. A printer might stop in the middle of a print job or refuse to turn on even if the was OK when turned off after the last print job.

See this post about the interaction between the power supply, the logic board and the printhead.

When a Canon printhead fails there is a risk that it damages the logic board. A logic board damaged in this way might damage a new printhead. So replacing a Canon printhead without also replacing the logic board is a gamble.
