I haven't use my printer in four or five years, decided to get back into art printing. It has third party cartridges, although I intend to print with genuine Canon.

I opened the lid, saw all the lights lit up. Cool. I bought two cartridges that had no flashing lights, but were visually empty.

Then, after opening the lid, NO cartridges were lit up. None, nada, zipola. Say what? And I get the cartridge related four flashes.

Any thoughts?

I'll soon be buying a Canon 310, but it pains me to put this printer into the e-waste stream.

Go to the Octoink UK site and watch their method for head cleaning. You may need to source some of their cleaning solution and distilled water although I have used Windex original and distilled water. Note that the head is sensitive to over pressure by the syringe and can get damaged ... very very gentle pressure. High pressure will displace the spray plate from the head ... $$$ for a new one. If you try to run it empty the head is terminated !!
