I believe this is based on the ability of the hardware. Only very light colors are printed at such resolution. Dark and bold areas in a photo are probably printed at larger ink droplets, lower resolution and faster speed. I have printed photos downloaded from the internet with a file size of about 200kbytes but when printed they are as good as other photos with 30 or 50 MB file sizes.
