Canon Pixma Pro 100 showing feed tray cover Error 1270

I have an art festival in 6 days.

My Canon Pro 100 randomly showed "Error 1270" which says the feed tray cover is open. The feed slot cover was closed. I reopened and closed it and the error still persisted. It's been 2 weeks of me trying to figure this out.

I've deep cleaned as much as I can physically reach. I popped off the cover and noticed something sticky on the right side of the paper feed roller near a metal part. I cleaned it and everything moves smoothly. The error still pops up. It pops up even with the entire printer closed.

The feed slot cover appears to be laying flush with the printer. I bought the printer secondhand 6yrs ago and never had this issue.

I'm tempted to take the side panels off, but I don't know which side the feed tray sensors are.

Maybe this instruction will help in disassembling the printer and locating the switch or sensor?

If the sensor is a switch maybe it can be opened and cleaned. See this.

Error 1270 on the Pro-100 is usually triggered by the feed-slot cover sensor, not by the paper rollers themselves. With the printer unplugged, check the right-hand hinge area for the small plastic actuator/tab that presses the sensor. If that tab is bent, sticky, or no longer reaches the switch, the printer will keep reporting the cover as open. Clean the area gently with isopropyl alcohol, let it dry fully, then open and close the cover several times. I would not permanently bypass the switch. If the actuator is intact, the side panel may need to come off so the microswitch and its wiring can be tested or replaced. Because your event is only six days away, a local Canon repair shop or a backup printer may be safer than a full teardown.
