Canon photo tank system printers

I see a leadtime of approx. 4 weeks for the GI-53 bottled inks for the new G550/650 Megatank printers in Germany at this time, so it'll take a short while to start with a fading test

reading this tread since past month and got myself the gi-73 aka gi-53 for europe

Would the GI-53 ink set also work in the Epson XP-15000 as refill ink?
I'm currently running InkTec ink and had to color profile it, because the colors were very off. All fine now, but the ink's gamut (especially reds) is way worse than the original ink, just like its fading resistance. Therefore this GI-53 set could be a great alternative ink set!

I know the thermal characteristics prevent Epson inks in Canon printers, but I cannot find any arguments for the other way around. Anyone with some experience or thoughts on this would make me happy!

Yes, you can run technically Canon inks like the GI-53 inks in an Epson printer - I do and did that quite regularly - for testing and other - e.g. using up all those bottled inks after the tests. But there is a caveat - colors are not identical between Epson and Canon. You either need to run some tests to find the most suitable color corrections or you run even better dedicated icc-profiles for your ink/paper combination(s).
And be aware that you can use as well the bottled Epson inks for the ET-7700 - these inks are called Epson 106 in Europe - with one limitation - the 106 inks don't have a gray or red which the GI-53 inkset has. You may go for the best pricing and availability of all these inks. The fading performance of these 106 and GI-53 inks is very close and much better than any 3rd party ink, about the best OEM inks you can get.

That sounds great. With InkTec I was already forced towards using ICC profiling (EyeOne Pro), which works great btw. Do you know how many milliliters are sold (approximately) in a GI-53 bottle? Canon only states the number of sheets.

I hope the Canon ink do not clog/dry out more quickly. In any case I should probably flush the cartridges thoroughly to prevent the risk of ink reactions (like the yellow cli-8 and Precision Colors did)?

The GI-53 bottles come with 60ml, the Epson 106 bottles with 70ml. There is some small print on those.

I don't know how good the automatic Google translation would work
It seemed to work well for me. Then again, I do not read German to know better.

Looking at the close up photo comparisons it is apparent that the Epson soundly beats the Canon with finer details in most cases (black text in normal quality setting seems to favor the Canon).

This should be expected since the Epson costs US$350 more!
