I have a Canon MX870 that cannot detect the ink level and requires a new ink cartridge. I have filled this ink cartridge with 375 mills of black ink so far and it is still going strong. I have not replaced one ink cartridge yet and we print extensively. The ink came from ebay - China and is fantastic. When the printer stops and will not print til i put a new cartridge in it - I just hold the stop button down for 20 seconds and it goes through it's process - then off we go again and print. I have never bought a chip resetter or anything. Goodluck if this helps others as this method works for me. Cheers
