canon MX700's, avail, $59, $76, $138 - uses larger PGI-5 and CLI-8s

FYI, for those looking for the larger PGI-5 and CLI-8 based printers, newegg still has the MX700 available. MX700 is from the era before canon started to cut back on quality and ink cart size.

can't vouch for the MX700, since i have MP830's, but if i didn't have 2 backup MP830's i'd be all over this. MX700 does not have duplex option, no CLI-8 BK, but does have ethernet.

comes with 4 new carts, so the recertified one for $59 + $15 shipping, pretty much getting the printer for like $20 or so. less $ than a set of ink waste pads, so when you hit the waste pad full message, just swap in whole printer instead of swapping the pads

call me nuts, but i just changed my mind and ordered 2 @ $59. much fewer headaches and expense when waste ink limit is hit

Several months ago I got a MX-700 at Staples for $60 after their easy rebate. Got it for my kids and they're very happy with it. I have a MP-600 so I fill and reset their cartridges. The MX-700 has a document feeder and fax. It does not have aCLI-8Bk cartridge so photos will be printed with only 3 colors and process black.

If I understand correctly, is this printer part of the 2007/2008 range?

I posted a list of what I think Canon's U.K. range of 'Home' printers are, from the 07/08 range onwards, or the MFPs, at least:

Although it lists only the U.K. range, I've also uploaded the 07/08 PDF catalogue.

I can't vouch for the MX700, but it does also have fax capabilities (B&W transmission only) and Ethernet.
