Do the Canon MP540 and MP530 use the same refill ink ?
Can the chip of the MP540 be reset with the same device as the IP4200 ?

Unfortunately no, one takes CLI-8s and the other one takes CLI- 521s and as well as that the cartridge is a different size.
But they will use the same inks..

But your answer maybe interpreted ambiguously.

The inks are physically compatible but the tone or colors of the inks are distinctly different between the CLI-8 and CLI-521/221/226/526.
The ink colors are shared between the 521 and 526 in Europe and 221/226 in North America.

Just do a swab test without printing and see for yourself. Clearly different.

That is one reason why the images produced by the newer printers have the potential to be superior to that produced by the CLI-8 when similar machines are compared. The mixing strategy/RIP that Canon has taken has improved.

Mikling:

Didn't you post about mixing your own improved inkset for the post-CLI ink using printers? Are you selling them yet? Do you have any printer/paper profiles for your new inkset?
