Canon MP170.......Using Black cartridge only,how?

i bought this AIO yesterday....quite happy with it
the disposable printhead really give me peace of mind...i can refill without have to worry if the printhead spoil.....

...



but i got a problem....
I tried to print pictures using Black catridge only.. but i got this message

and when i click OK,the print result is in color , not black & white

i read the onscreen MP170 manual...

i change all my settings according to the manual...but it still print using Color catridge..

and when i tried to print a colored pie chart using both black & color catridge....the print result is in greyscale/black & white

something wrong with my AIO? please help me with my problem..

Not that familiar with this printer yet, but my guess is that it only can be one of 2 things

1) Try printing in Greyscale and see if you get the same warning.

2) I'm guessing that if you selected "photo" paper, then the printer will only use the colour cartridge. Your warning stated that your printer uses black only on the "plain" paper setting, or when not printing borderless.

See if there is anything in your manual about this, and possibly call 1-800 OK CANON and talk to tech support. You are under warranty and your call is free.

i already select greyscale printing and plain paper....but still get the same message...

well...after contacting canon and exchanging few emails...
the culprit is the EasyPhoto Print software..

The EasyPhoto Print program will override the driver settings and will
automatically use the inks required for printing. There is no way to
override this within the EasyPhoto Print program. We apologize for any
inconvenience this may cause.

but actually, what i want to do is printing the photo by using black catridge,black & white printing.......

when i use Easy Photo Print software, i got that message...
but when i print without using the software,i can print using black catridge only...
something wrong with the MPNavigator 2/Easy Photo Print?
